In Augment Dreams, play in the world of a child's imagination, customize your figurine and increase your power as you defeat other toys!

How to play

Augment Dreams is a turn-based combat boss rush, where you take control of a figurine that gets progressively stronger the further you go in battles.

Use your mouse to both deal effective attacks, and parry incoming shots to reduce damage taken.

At the end of each battle, you are given the opportunity to choose between any of the body parts of the toy you just defeated, giving you the possibility of customizing your character appearance and attributes.

Choose wisely, as it doesn't matter the order in which you decide to fight them, each enemy gets stronger than the last.

About the game

The game was created for GMTK2024, and for the theme, you get to witness the scale for which the world is seen through a child's eyes. They don't need the best of toys, nor the best of equipment, to build a fight in a small scale and imagine it being very grand and epic.

Each battle gives you the opportunity to also build your character and scale as you wish, as the game is very short in length, it incentivizes replayability to get to know more combinations.

In Augment Dreams, you get to fight your sibling, destroy their toys and get your character better and stronger. But also, you get to explore a very lighthearted way of how a child deals with the guilt of making their loved ones sad, and how a child tries to make amends of their actions.

Meet the toys

• Box-er: Toy made of cardboard, meant to represent a fighter.

Red Dead: A cowboy, who is extremely accurate with their shots. Tends to wait longer than the other toys to throw off their opponent's timing.

Sentry Flash: An very sturdy robot, who not only is very though to break, but also is capable of reflecting damage.

Spark Striker: Said to be an alien like creature, it is able to control electricity, and thus, paralyzing any opponent that isn't ready to parry their attacks.

Knightmare: Not a toy, but a representation of the child's guilt of destroying their sibling's toys. A product of the child's imagination, or is it?
